Background: Introduced in Japan in 1999, the S15 represented the final generation of Nissan's celebrated Silvia, a model that had established a loyal following amongst enthusiasts thanks to its combination of rear-wheel drive, balanced handling and considerable tuning potential. Compared with its S14 predecessor, the S15 featured sharper, more contemporary styling, a revised chassis and a more focused driving experience.
Its distinctive headlights, low bonnet line and compact coupé proportions have helped establish it as one of the most recognisable Japanese performance cars of its era. The range comprised two principal variants, the naturally aspirated Spec-S and turbocharged Spec-R.
The Spec-S was powered by Nissan's 2.0-litre, 16-valve SR20DE four-cylinder engine, producing approximately 165PS (163bhp) in Japanese-market specification.
