The Mercedes-Benz 190SL needs little introduction, its elegant proportions and open-top character establishing it as one of the defining style icons of the 1950s.

Introduced alongside the legendary 300 SL, it offered similar visual glamour in a more relaxed touring package and quickly became a favourite amongst the rich and famous.

The 190SL also boasted an all-new engine, an over-square SOHC straight-four unit of 1,897cc that produced some 105bhp, which was sufficient to propel the car to a maximum speed of 112mph.

More than 25,000 examples were produced between 1955 and 1963, but importantly, only 562 were built in right-hand-drive, making surviving examples in this configuration particularly rare.
