Introduced in 2014, the Mercedes-AMG GT represented an important milestone for the German performance manufacturer, becoming the second sports car developed entirely in-house by AMG following the celebrated SLS.
Designed to compete with established sports cars such as the Porsche 911, the GT combined a lightweight aluminium spaceframe chassis with dramatic long-bonnet - short-tail styling, a front-mid-mounted V8 engine and rear-mounted transaxle, providing near-perfect weight distribution.
At its heart was AMG's newly developed 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, a hand-built engine featuring the innovative 'hot inside V' turbocharger arrangement, designed to improve throttle response and packaging efficiency.
This state-of-the-art unit produced an impressive 503bhp and 650Nm of torque, delivered to the rear wheels through a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT dual-clutch transmission.
