The Volkswagen Type 2 De Luxe Microbus is one of the most recognisable vehicles of the post-war era, its distinctive split-screen design becoming synonymous with versatility and character.

Developed using the proven running gear of the Beetle, the Type 2 quickly evolved into a wide range of commercial and passenger variants, with early ‘Splittie’ models now regarded as the most desirable.
This particular example is a rare 21-window De Luxe Microbus, supplied new in right-hand drive form for the UK market.

Built on 15 December 1964, it left the factory shortly thereafter for delivery to Ramsgate, specified in Seeblau with a contrasting Blauweiß roof, a colour combination it retains today.

Ordered with the M543 option, the vehicle was delivered without rear seats to enable conversion by Devon into one of its highly regarded ‘Caravette’ motorhomes.
