The XJ13 occupies a unique place in Jaguar’s history.
Conceived in the mid-1960s as Jaguar’s long-awaited return to Le Mans, it was intended to revive the dominance established by the C-Type and D-Type in the previous decade.
Designed under Malcolm Sayer’s direction, the XJ13 adopted a mid-engined layout and advanced aerodynamics, pairing a lightweight monocoque structure with Jaguar’s all-new V12 engine.
Although testing in period demonstrated considerable speed potential, the project was ultimately shelved before ever competing, and the sole completed prototype remains part of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage collection.
Its legacy, however, has made it one of the most revered and visually striking competition cars ever conceived.
This extraordinary re-creation was completed in 2019 following an extensive seven and a half year build programme by TWR Replicas, led by Trevor Williams, a specialist in Jaguar-based engineering projects.
