The 300 SEL 6.3 remains one of the great Q-cars of its era, combining imposing W109 presence with the formidable 6.3-litre M100 V8.
Period performance was remarkable, with 0 to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 220km/h, figures confirmed by Mercedes-Benz’s own archive.
Its reputation was such that Steve McQueen famously owned one, having reportedly been captivated by the model’s autobahn pace after being overtaken at high speed in his 911S.
This left-hand drive example was acquired by our vendors in Berlin in 2016 from a respected collector and has formed part of their ownership for the last decade.
