Description
The Ferrari F430 was far more than a facelift of its predecessor, the 360, it also offered a significant leap forward in engineering terms.
Chassis rigidity was notably improved, particularly in Spider form, reducing scuttle shake and delivering sharper, more composed handling.
The new 4.3-litre V8 produced 483bhp and was paired with a much-improved F1 paddle-shift transmission, offering faster, smoother gear changes along with better clutch management at low speeds.
Further Formula 1-derived technologies included the E-Diff and steering wheel-mounted Manettino switch, transforming the car’s dynamic ability, while the more aggressive styling brought it in line with Ferrari’s contemporary range.
Crucially, the move to a timing chain-driven engine eliminated the costly belt services associated with the 360, making ownership considerably more straightforward.
