The Aston Martin V8 entered a new phase with the introduction of the Oscar India (October Introduction) in 1978, following a period of halted production and subsequent redevelopment under new ownership.

Unveiled at the Birmingham Motor Show, the revised model represented a more refined iteration of the V8, with greater emphasis placed on comfort and usability.

Often referred to as the Series 4, it marked a shift in character, with automatic transmission becoming the predominant choice and Aston Martin increasingly positioning it as a capable high-speed saloon rather than an outright sports car.

Visually, the Oscar India benefited from several updates, including a cleaner bonnet design with the scoop replaced by a sculpted power bulge, along with an integrated rear spoiler.

Interior revisions were more significant, with the reintroduction of burr walnut trim and a more luxurious finish throughout, aligning it with the recently launched Volante.
