Ford have never been slow when it comes to developing sporting versions of their standard cars but surprisingly, it took six years before a genuine performance version of their little Fiesta arrived The transverse-mounted 1,598cc OHV four-cylinder with Weber twin-venturi carburettor generated 84bhp, which in such a lightweight and nimble car, offered 105mph and 0-60 in just 9.3 seconds This, remarkably original 1983 Mk1 is a rare survivor – Ziebart-treated from new, single previous lady-owner (for 22 years), plus our Ford-enthusiast vendor for the last 21 years, unrestored and unmodified, a sure way into the rarefied ‘Performance Ford Club’
