Background:
MGB Sebring racers were specialised, lightweight competition versions of the MGB and MGC GT developed by the BMC Competitions Department in Abingdon for the 12 Hours of Sebring in the 1960s, MG having already established that the success of their MGA competition cars in earlier years led to a distinct improvement in sales of their road cars in the US.

The MGB GTS (four-cylinder) and the later MGC GTS (three-litre six-cylinder) featured aluminium panels, flared arches and tuned engines, achieving significant success, including a 1964 class win and high-ranking finishes in 1967 and 1969 with one team (Hopkirk/Hedges) placing 15th overall.
 
Although many competition cars from the sixties and seventies would look out of place today, the Sebring BGT's distinctive looks with its flared arches, louvres, vents, big wheels and lowered stance still looks topical and remains desirable.
