Introduced for the 1974 model year, the Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI occupies a fascinating and often overlooked position within the classic 911 lineage.
Developed directly from the Carrera 2.7 RS, it retained the same mechanically fuel-injected 2.7-litre Type 911/83 flat-six with magnesium crankcase and much of the RS’ underlying engineering philosophy, packaged in a more refined and usable road car format.
Producing around 210bhp, the Carrera MFI delivered sharp throttle response, excellent mid-range performance and a character that closely mirrored its competition-bred predecessor.
According to data from the Carrera 2.7 MFI Register, just 1,633 Coupé were manufactured.
Sources suggest that only 114 examples were produced in right-hand drive, with 48 reserved for the UK market.
