Introduced in 1997, the Z3M was a model oddball, following no direct lineage, offered in either in Roadster or Coupé form, the latter commonly referred to as the ‘Breadvan’ for obvious reasons
Offered with the same engine as the iconic E36 M3, namely the S50, a 3.2-litre straight-six powerhouse producing 316bhp at a sonorous 7,400rpm and 260lb/ft of torque at a more sensible 3,250rpm, your only option was a 5-speed ZF Gearbox sending power via a limited-slip differential to the rear wheels
