The high performance variant of the Audi A4 range, the RS 4, debuted on the B5 platform in 1999, at which time there was only one body style on offer, the five-door Avant estate.
This first model was powered by a twin-turbocharged, 2.7-litre, 30-valve V6, developed in collaboration with Cosworth, which produced a substantial 375bhp coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox and permanent Quattro four-wheel drive, offering impressive traction and performance.
The B5 lasted in production until 2001 with only approximately 400 built in right-hand drive, and there would be no RS 4 in the succeeding B6 range.
This original UK-supplied example was first registered on 9 th February 2001 and is finished in Santorini Blue, a rare hue with only three believed to have been ordered in this colour for the UK-market.
