Background The Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 is considered the spiritual predecessor to the Lancer Evolution.
Developed to meet Group A rally regulations, the VR-4 incorporated many of the same technologies—such as the four-wheel drive system and turbocharger—that would later be found in the Lancer Evo.
It is often regarded as the "Evo 0", the car that paved the way for the Evo's success in rally racing.
