It feels like only yesterday the Ariel Atom strutted into our consciousness, imortalised by the image of a certain Jeremy Clarkson's face being folded back by the velocity.

In fact the Atom was displayed to the public for the first time almost 30 years ago at the British International Motor Show in 1996.

Since then, the Atom has gone from strength to strength bringing focus back on what makes an enjoyable and hugely capable driver's car.

The Ariel Atom has an uncanny ability for setting the pace at any track day proving that lightness can equal and overcome the power and frills of any supercars, or hypercars for that matter.

Since its inception, the Atom has been powered by no less than seven different varieties of engine and in this case, the eighth-generation Atom, the Atom 4, launched at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2018, utilises the turbocharged 2-litre unit with 3-stage boost from Honda’s Civic Type R producing 320bhp and 310lb/ft of torque at only 3,000rpm.
