1933 ALVIS FIREFLY CROSS & ELLIS DROPHEAD COUPEOut of a limited production of just 871 units between 1932 and 1934, only 133 of these were originally built as drophead coupés.It is thought that just 30 examples of the Alvis Firefly exist worldwide and possibly just four or five examples of the drophead coupé making this a very rare car indeed.Having been in long-term private ownership for over 25 years, this vehicle has toured France and Ireland.
It also featured in the 2009 TV drama 'Landgirls' as driven by Dominic Mafham with Sophie Ward.The engine is solid and reliable, the pre-selector gearbox is reported as working well.There are various non-standard fittings such as brake tester, flight magnetic compass together with a retrofitted centre console box arrangement over the gearbox.Reported as a fun car with style and panache, the car benefits from a new battery.The bodywork is good considering it's 93 years- there has obviously been some touching up over the years.
