Produced in a limited run of just 1,650 examples, with 1,050 allocated to the UK market, the RSP was conceived as a special project to gauge demand for a revived Mini Cooper.
The response exceeded all expectations, with every car effectively sold before reaching dealership showrooms, prompting Rover to resume full-time Cooper production.
Powered by a 1275cc A-Series engine fed by an SU carburettor, the RSP combined lively performance with the engaging driving experience that had made the Mini Cooper a legend.
