Unsurprising, a fabulous engine sound!

The Alfa Romeo Montreal, as we know, bares one of the rare qualities whereupon the production version is actually more attractive than the prototype.

With an illustrious design heritage from the pen of Marcello Gandini from Carrozzeria Bertone, it was always going to be destined for greatness.
Despite the bonnet showing off a faux air-intake, it does in fact hide something far more important.

The Montreal takes its power plant from an engine that was used in the world-famous Alfa Romeo T33 Stradale, a V12 leviathan that, quite rightly crushed all in its path.

With a few cylinders shaved off, the design and power-output was still formidable.

A 3.0 litre V8 with a cross-plane crank and fuel injection, this, de-tuned version coupled to a five-speed gearbox and limited slip differential made for an excellent driver’s car.
