Condition

6

While the car has undergone an extensive restoration and modification program, it is not in original condition. The description notes that it 'looks, sounds and drives like a Twin Cam', implying it is an evocation rather than an original. The listing mentions some modifications, such as a Sierra 2.0 litre Twin Cam engine, Sierra MT75 five-speed gearbox, and other non-original parts. The car had corrosion cut out and new front wings fitted. The interior is black and has the correct period contour seats fitted. While the description claims the body shell is the same that Ford used for AVO competition cars, the registration document still shows it as a 1098cc car, indicating that the car isn't in its original condition.

Ford’s successes with the Lotus Cortina led to the idea of fitting the mechanicals into the Escort resulting in the Escort Twin Cam being born and becoming one of Ford’s most famous production cars.

The Escort Twin-Cam went on to achieve many international race and rally victories during its short produc...
