AI Listing Summary

This 1933-1940 Alvis Crested Eagle Six Light Saloon is a largely original example, owned by the current vendor since 1989. It features a rebuilt engine, Laycock overdrive, and stainless-steel exhaust. Although it has some age-related wear, including refreshed paint and repairs to woodwork, it has won many awards and is considered a highly cherished 'gentleman’s carriage'.

Condition

6

While the car is largely original and has been lovingly cared for, it's 86 years old, and there are some repairs to the woodwork. The paint has been refreshed, and the leather interior has a patina, indicating wear. The engine was rebuilt in 2002, and a Laycock overdrive unit was fitted in 2012. Overall, it appears to be in good condition for its age but not perfect.

The Alvis Crested Eagle was manufactured from 1933 through to 1940 and was a development of the 20hp Silver Eagle.

It featured an X-braced chassis frame with transverse-leaf independent front suspension and mechanical brakes.

Engines fitted were of 2148, 2511, 2762 and 3571cc in capacity, all of them overhead-valve six cylinders.

Standard body styles available on the Crested Eagle chassis were limited to just three: four-light and six-light saloons and a limousine.

This delightful Six Light Saloon has been owned by the current vendor since October 1989 and has been lovingly cared for.

This is a very original example; the leather interior is entirely original and has a fabulous patina.

The bodywork is again largely original apart from some repairs to the woodwork in the windscreen area-she is 86 years old after all! Over the years the paintwork has been refreshed in the original colour scheme, the Charlesworth body is particularly handsome with very proportionate lines.
