Right from the beginning, the Range Rover represented something of a lifestyle movement.

Although considered rudimentary by today’s standards, the ‘Suffix A’ was billed as a ‘Four-In-One’ car.

It was a luxury car, a performance car, an estate and, of course, a cross-country car.

They were launched with the ubiquitous Rover V8 engine which delivered 135bhp but, more importantly, 185lb/ft of torque.

Various improvements were made through the suffixes (A-F) with the 1976 suffix D benefitting from improved carburettors, interior lighting in the headlining and more luxurious carpeting on the transmission tunnel.

This matching numbers ‘D’ suffix two-door Range Rover was delivered new to its new owner through Henlys of Bristol in September 1975 and was initially serviced by Henlys and Dutton Forshaw.

It changed hands at 32,000 miles and again at 49,000 miles in December 1983 when purchased by the previous owner.
