This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HY The AEC Routemaster was designed by London Transport and built by the Associated Equipment Company.

The prototype was completed in 1954 and the model was in production until the last one was delivered in 1968.

A pioneering design, the Routemaster outlasted several of its intended replacement models going on to become one of London’s most famous symbols.

In 2006 the Routemaster was voted one of Britain’s top 10 design icons in a list that included Concorde, The Spitfire and the London tube map.

204 UXJ was in service with London Transport for several years.

This bus must have seen some sights during its working life, mainly covering Route 36 which runs from Queens Park to New Cross calling at Marble Arch and the world famous hotel, The Dorchester.
