AI Listing Summary

This is a Triple C Challenger, a Jaguar E-Type replica built in the early 1990s. It features a 4.2L engine and XJ6 gearbox, styled after the 1963 Briggs Cunningham Le Mans car, and has been driven to Le Mans every year since 1998. While it is regularly serviced, the car is described as 'not cosseted and rarely used' and supporting documentation for engine modifications is unavailable.

Condition

The car is described as a 'striking recreation' built in the early 1990s, suggesting it is not a brand new vehicle but rather a well-maintained replica. It has been driven to Le Mans every year since 1998 and is regularly serviced, indicating ongoing care. However, the description also mentions that it is 'not cosseted and rarely used,' implying it might not be in pristine condition and may show some signs of wear from use. The existence of an MoT test certificate suggests that the car is roadworthy and has passed inspection, but the lack of paperwork to support claims of a blueprinted engine and lightened flywheel introduces some uncertainty about the car's mechanical enhancements.

In 1984 Derek persuaded John to loan him the E type (with the promise of having it restored) to take moulds for a new kit.

Jaguar Cars gave their approval for the project but the original kit was designed to take Ford or Rover running gear which necessitated flaring of the rear wheel arches.

By 1986 the kit was receiving excellent reviews but the desire to create a genuine E-Type replica with good handling based entirely on Jaguar running gear and power plant persuaded Derek and John to invest fully in the development of the Challenger.

Tales of Challenger kits thrived during the late eighties although shortly after th...
