The Ford Consul was a family favourite of post-war Britain in the 1950s, and this December 1953 model is described as having “under 78,000 miles backed up by previous MOTs and receipts”.

A 1.5-litre version with a three-speed manual gearbox, it is finished in classic black with a gorgeous red leather interior.

There are delightful touches of Americana throughout, reflecting Ford’s US roots, although the original registration number is classically British.

The engine, paintwork and interior are described as ‘average’, while the bodywork is ‘good’ and both transmission and electrics are ‘excellent’.

It is now MOT exempt, and although it doesn’t have a huge amount of service history, the vendor confirms it has not been a competition car or been modified.

A wonderful classic Ford with an attractive estimate, this Consul is all ready to celebrate more than seven decades on the road with an enthusiastic new owner.
