Before the Second World War, MG had established itself as one of the defining names in the British sports-car market.

The Midget, in particular, made sporting motoring accessible to a much wider audience, thanks to its compact dimensions, low weight, and entertaining driving characteristics.

Produced from 1929 through to the TF in 1955, the Midget range helped establish MG as a major player in affordable sports cars.

Over time, however, the company’s Abingdon range increasingly focused on larger, more powerful and better-equipped cars, leaving the TA positioned somewhat below the newer models.
