The 1938-introduced Wraith was the final small-engined new model to be launched by Rolls-Royce before wartime aero engine work became more of a priority.

More advanced than its predecessors, the Wraith boasted a 4,257cc straight-six engine (complete with cross-flow cylinder head), four-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension and 17in.

The Wraith’s coil and wishbone independent front suspension came from the big sister Phantom III.

Just 491 Wraiths were made, all being very much built by hand.
