Introduced in 1962, the Daimler 2.5 V8 featured a distinctive fluted Daimler grille and was initially available only with Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission.

Like the Mk2, it employed four-wheel disc brakes, independent front suspension and a live rear axle located by a Panhard rod.
