It was the Riley Nine of 1926 that really put Riley on the map.

With its 1,100cc twin-camshaft engine, it soon found success in competition, further boosting the order book.

New for 1935 was the 12/4 engine.

Though it bore many resemblances to existing Riley units, it was an all new design of 1½ litres and could be specified in the Falcon, Merlin, Kestrel, Lynx and new Adelphi models.

With a power output of 51bhp, one could expect to reach 50mph in some 17 seconds and achieve a top speed of around 67mph.

Originally registered in Oxford on April 6th, 1935, this delightful 12/4 Falcon presumably saw a fair bit of activity during its first thirty-five years, for it had been stripped and taken completely to pieces by 1972, when it was acquired for restoration by the present owner from one R.
