Introduced in 1974, the final Triumph Spitfire variant – the 1500 – was powered by a 1493cc OHV four-cylinder engine which was notably torquier than its predecessors (71bhp / 82lbft).
Weighing a modest 815kg, the two-seater proved a responsive drive thanks to its all-round independent suspension, disc/ drum brakes and rack and pinion steering.
Visually indistinguishable from its MkIV forebear save for some minor trim differences, the Spitfire 1500 was a handsome machine.
