Although, based on the Shadow floorpan, the Spirit offered considerable improvements in both ride and handling.

By combining copious amounts of sound-deadening with the finest quality upholstery, Crewe's engineers kept intrusion from the 6.75 litre V8 engine to a muted hush.

Unveiled at the 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Spirit II featured a sophisticated automatic ride control system that adapted to changing road conditions almost instantaneously, ergonomically enhanced `new look' dashboard, four-speed automatic transmission and standard-fit alloy wheels.
