Condition

6

While the vehicle has had significant mechanical work done recently, the age of the vehicle means that it would be unlikely to be in pristine condition. The respray and upgraded components suggest it's better than average, but not quite excellent due to its age and the likelihood of minor wear and tear.

Introduced in 1968, the T2 generation of Volkswagen’s iconic, forward-control Type 2, which has proven versatile enough to serve as a panel van, minibus, camper van, and even fire engine, was immediately recognizable due to its adoption of a large single-piece windscreen.

Popularly nicknamed the 'Bay Window', the newcomer incorporated a revised half-shaft driveline to the rear, not only facilitating an increase in ride height but also improving handling.

The T2's lengthened wheelbase was welcomed by motor caravan builders because the increased interior space made conversion and customization easier.

Facelifted in 1972 for the following model year, the Volkswagen gained more visible/higher-set indicators and stronger square-profile bumpers that enabled the so-called T2b to meet contemporary US passenger car safety standards, from which vans were technically exempt.

First registered on 01 March 1979, this particular Type 2 was manufactured in the popular color of Mexico Beige.
