Description
W124 is the Mercedes-Benz internal chassis designation reference for the 1985 to 1995 version of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Due to the high cost of German engineering and build quality, the model was designed to last many miles with awards won by high mileage versions.
Front suspension is by way of a separate spring and damper whilst rear suspension features the Mercedes-Benz multi-link axle introduced in 1982 on the 190 and now standard on many modern cars.
Much of the 124's engineering, along with many of its features, were advanced automotive technology at introduction and incorporated innovations that were adopted throughout the industry.
Delivered new to its first and only lady owner in March 1988, this top of the range 300E was ordered with pretty much every option on the pricelist.
The original invoice from the time of initial order was for £33,875 - that is the equivalent of £122,000 in today's money - it was quite a car.
