It comes with a Heritage Certificate and evidence of its AA service, including a repair panel for a roof-mounted radio antenna. Condition

While the vendor describes the car as in good condition and running order, the listing also mentions that the car has had a recent engine overhaul and re-wiring which suggests that there were mechanical issues. The listing also mentions yellow paint underneath the current green paint, indicating that a repaint has taken place. Therefore, I would rate this car as good.

The very first Land Rover registered was one of the Amsterdam Motor Show cars on the 21st of May, 1948, and full production began at Solihull shortly after.

Rover soon saw that the vehicle’s appeal went beyond expectations. The Land Rover was one of the first four-wheel vehicles the AA added to their fleet.

Initially designed for attending breakdowns in the dark, in London, they were eventually used throughout the UK and proved extremely good in remote areas like the Scottish Highlands.

They could tow, were equipped with two-way radios and carried water, fuel and a battery for stranded motorists’ electrical issues.

The Yellow paintwork contrasted with the Black front wings but this has no practical purpose and merely mimicked the AA motorcycles and their black mudguards.

Believed to have been first registered on the 6 th of March, 1956, this 1956 Series I is the 86” inch iteration and formerly part of the AA (Automobile Association) fleet.
