Ferrari introduced the 296 Speciale A in April 2025 as the open-top counterpart to the 296 Speciale.

The “A” stood for Aperta, placing it in what Ferrari described as an “ultra-exclusive dynasty” of focused open models that included the Scuderia Spider 16M, 458 Speciale A, and 488 Pista Spider.

Developed in parallel with the coupe, it combined the Speciale’s sharper performance brief with the added sensory appeal of open-air driving. Its retractable hardtop opened or closed in 14 seconds, while the vertical rear glass could be lowered independently to admit more air and engine sound into the cabin.

Despite the packaging demands of the folding roof, Ferrari engineered the Speciale A to match the coupe’s peak aerodynamic performance.
