According to a copy of its factory build record, this 220 S “Ponton” Cabriolet was originally supplied in Hellblau (Light Blue) and was among the later examples to be delivered.

According to a copy of its Kraftfahrzeugbrief, it was acquired by its original owner, Funk Radio of Hanover, Germany, in November 1958 and retained for eight years.

The Ponton then passed to Heiko Gebhardt, a journalist in the same city, with subsequent ownerships documented to 1972.
Ponton Manufaktur, a company dedicated to this model, acquired the car in early 2010, and embarked on an extensive two-year refurbishment.
