Chassis DB4/361/R was ordered new through Independent Motor Sales of New Zealand by Sir Robertson Stewart CBE of Christchurch, New Zealand.

The car was originally finished in Peony Red over White Gold Connolly, per a copy of the factory build sheet on file.

Sir Stewart traveled to Europe for six months in 1960 to collect his new Aston Martin, including a visit to Le Mans for the famed 24-hour race, where he drove the circuit in his new DB4 and clocked 140 mph on the Mulsanne Straight.

The race program from this event was taken home as a souvenir and remains in the car’s history file today.


Sir Stewart traveled extensively with his new DB4 during his time in Europe, and then DB4/361/R made its trek across the ocean on the Rangitiki, drawing significant press attention upon its arrival ...
