In the early 1950s, Jean Rédélé – a talented driver, engineer, and Renault dealer – began experimenting with lightweight performance by modifying the humble Renault 4CV.

His innovations yielded class victories in demanding events such as the 1000 Miglia and the Coupes des Alpes, experiences that ultimately inspired him to establish Société des Automobiles Alpine in 1955.

Rédélé’s vision of a nimble, lightweight sports car found its purest expression in the Alpine A110 Berlinette, introduced at the 1962 Paris Motor Show.

With its graceful fiberglass body, tubular backbone chassis, and tuned Renault mechanicals, the A110 quickly became a formidable presence on rally stages across Europe.
