It is not simply a pick-up, and it is not simply a Cortina derivative.
It is, in effect, Ford’s answer to the need for a car-based utility vehicle with proper engineering beneath it and in South African V6 form, it becomes something considerably more desirable than most UK-built equivalents.
These South African-built P100s have developed a strong following for a simple reason; they were built away from the worst of the British climate, often specified with stronger engines, and tend to survive in far better structural condition than their European counterparts.
For many Ford enthusiasts, they represent the “real” evolution of the Cortina-based commercial line.
