Its heart is the renowned 1565cc Lotus Twin Cam engine—a 4-cylinder marvel developed from the Lotus 105E race engine, celebrated for its high-revving character, robustness, and excellent power-to-weight ratio.

Producing approximately 126bhp, this engine was capable of revving to around 6,500 rpm, and its high-compression flat-top pistons, twin camshaft configuration, and twin SU carburettors gave it a keen performance edge.
