While the car is described as a 'lovely example' and has had only two owners, the age of the vehicle (produced in 1972) suggests that it likely has wear and tear consistent with a car of that era. The description notes that it benefits from an upgraded engine and gearbox, implying that the original parts were either worn or replaced, which suggests the car is not in pristine or outstanding condition. It's also difficult to determine the extent of any reconditioning needed without a closer inspection, meaning it's unlikely to be an 'excellent' example either. Therefore, it is assumed to be in good condition and requires some reconditioning.

The 500 always was a basic car, in fact it was so tinder-powered when launched in 1957 that even Italians gave it the cold shoulder.

In comparison to rival countries’ offerings, such as the 2CV and the Mini that appeared just two years later, the 500 was out of date almost from the start.

Most small cars could offer similar economy and just as much interior space while having that useful extra refinement for long journeys, but none of those rivals were quite as small as the Fiat.

It was the ultimate town car, and its tiny dimensions and cheeky good looks soon won an enormous following among minimalist motorists around the world.

Production of the original 500 lasted from 1957 until 1975 and the car we have here is from 1972 making it one of the later cars to be produced.

It is an original right-hand drive car that was originally supplied to an ex-pat living in Monaco.

It benefits from an upgraded 650 engine and gearbox and is showing a mileage of 50,000 miles.
