The 1966 Mercedes Benz 300SEb is a rare car these days, this being one of 17 still on the road in the UK.
Supplied new on 28th April 1966 to Mercedes Benz Great West Road, this car may have been the personal transport of the MD.
It was sold by Mercedes in 1968 to Mr RJ Hinves and kept by him for 25 years (a drawing by Mr Hinves’ young son recording the happy day of the car’s arrival is in the extensive record transferred with the car, which includes the original handbook).
In February 2003 and had it converted into a classic rally car.
A bespoke, now quite loud stainless steel exhaust system by Hayward and Scott fitted at this time, is available to the new owner “FOC” on collection.
Rondeau used the car for classic road rallies including the 2005 Winter Challenge.
Fellow rally man Robin Shackleton took it over in 2009 before selling it to Oldham dentist Andy Lane, who promptly won the 2009 Le Jog from Lands End to John O’Groats in it, navigated by Iain Tullie.
