Founded by Joseph Lamy and Emile Akar in 1921, Amilcar specialized from the outset in the very fashionable market for cyclecars, cars as small in weight as in cubic capacity: they must not exceed 1100 cm3.


The company specialized in these small sports cars and began to grow.

The most exclusive model is the Châssis Grand Sport Surbaissé or CGSS.

Amilcar takes part in a number of automobile competitions, including the Bol d'Or, the Indianapolis 500 and the Monte Carlo Rally.

There was no shortage of ambition, and in addition to racing cars, a range of touring cars was offered to private customers.
