KEY FACTS This S30-generation Nissan Fairlady Z-L is a sought-after and iconic classic Japanese sports car, offered for sale by its second registered keeper from new and with a remarkably well-documented history.

Under the bonnet sits a replacement 2.6-litre naturally aspirated inline-six, fed by twin SU carburettors, which sends its power to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.

This example was originally a Japan-delivered model, which was first registered in July 1971, before being imported to the US, though it is now located in the UK, where it has been with the seller and reportedly its second owner for a year and a half.

It was purchased in Tokyo in July 1971 by a US Air Force Major who was stationed in Japan, and returned to the US with him in January 1972.

This Fairlady Z-L then remained with its first owner for the next 50 years, travelling across California with him, and still retains many of its American registration tags and license plates.
