AI Listing Summary

This 1983 Land Rover 101 Forward Control Ambulance is a rare, ex-military utility vehicle with a 3.5-liter Rover V8 engine. It features original military equipment, a sand-colored exterior with red cross panels, and a Nato Green cabin, but the seller points out some cosmetic issues like paint patina and potential work needed on the rear crossmember.

Condition

The seller notes that the paintwork is generally good but shows age and combat environment-related patina, and there is a hard-won interior patina. The seller also notes a slight leak from the fuel filler when filling it, that not all of the electrics have been tested, and that the rear crossmember might need some work in the future. The roof lining looks to have had a leak at some point, and not all switches/electronics inside have been tested, so their condition and operation cannot be confirmed. The most recent MOT test resulted in a second-time pass with no advisories.

KEY FACTS This Land Rover 101 Forward Control Ambulance is a very rare and eminently capable modern classic ex-military utility vehicle, which benefits from significant recent recommissioning maintenance and is reported to be in highly original condition.

Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre Rover V8, which sends its power to all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with rare overdrive.

Manufactured in 1983, this example was first registered for the public road in September 2000, and has been with its current and seventh private keepers for four and a half years.

This 101 Forward Control is understood to be one of only 250 ambulance variants produced for the British Army, of which it is believed that no more than 25 currently left on the road remain in their original ambulance guise.

The odometer indicates 21,755 miles, though this is not warranted.
