A lack of oil pressure led to a meticulous engine rebuild carried out by Chesman Engineering in Coventry.

The block was re-bored and thoroughly cleaned, the crankshaft ground and balanced, and the con rods balanced.

The flywheel was lightened and balanced, complemented by a fast road camshaft.

Triple Rudd Speed inlet manifolds were fitted along with three new SU carburettors.
