The metal workshops of the Peugeot Brothers made everything from coffee mills to corset stays.
They prospered in the fin du siece bicycling boom, when motorised vehicles were also added.
A model called the "Bebe" was an early success and a completely new version arrived in 1913 from the drawing board of none other than Ettore Bugatti, who was by then producing cars under his own name.
Only 3,095 examples of the Bebe were produced in the years between 1913 and 1916 (compared with around 13,000 other Peugeot 4 wheelers).
These are now recognised as highly significant small cars and the undoubted inspiration for the original Austin 7.
