Completed at Modena in May 1968, Quattroporte 4200 chassis number 2258 is reported by marque historian Fabio Collina of Maserati Archivio Storico to be one of just two examples finished in its particular color combination of Bianco Polo Park (White) over Senape (Tan) leather.

Furthermore, its Maserati S.p.A.

Certificate of Origin confirms that the car retains its matching-numbers AM107 engine.



The Quattroporte was registered on 12 June 1968 to Clara Benelli of Bologna, wearing Roman plates "F93440." It passed within the family to Tenuta Benelli S.p.A.

in June 1970 and to Rubiesse S.p.A.

in November 1976, before it sold in January 1977 to Federico Masetti Zannini, a young Bolognese enthusiast then aged 27, who re-registered it locally as "BO 697333" that July.

With some 82,000 kilometers showing, the Maserati was placed in the back of a workshop, sheltered beneath a scaffold, and left.
