Ferrari's flagship models, beginning with the watershed 288 GTO of 1984 through to the 1200-CV F80, each demonstrated what Maranello could achieve once freed from the compromises of series production.

Unveiled at Geneva in 2013, the LaFerrari was the first of them to look to hybridization for that advantage, and it did so without softening the character of the V12 sitting behind the driver.



The 6.3-liter V12 was mounted amidships and rated at 800 CV, with a 13.5:1 compression ratio and a 9,250-rpm redline, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated V12 ever fitted to a Ferrari production car.

Ferrari paired this with a Formula One-derived HY-KERS motor of 163 CV to fill the low and mid-range, driving through the differential and leaving the V12 free to be tuned for the top end.

The combined 963 CV reached the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle.
