An ambassador of the Dolce Vita around the world, known by its nickname "Duetto," the Spider made its transatlantic debut in 1966 aboard the SS Raffaello, traveling alongside its fashionable passengers and making a stop in Cannes, France, during the city's renowned Film Festival.

A star among stars, the model would become an icon in the United States when Dustin Hoffman famously drove one in the 1967 film The Graduate.



Produced for nearly three decades, the Spider evolved through several distinct iterations.

The early and highly sought-after series to which our example belongs is instantly recognizable by its Osso di Seppia boattail and front covered headlamps.

It was also the final Alfa Romeo designed under the direction of Battista "Pinin" Farina.

The range was offered with 1,300-cc and 1,600-cc engines, topped by the more powerful 1750 Veloce.
