Powerful, engaging, and classic, the 911 R combined the otherworldly 500 PS 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six of the GT3 RS with the wingless body of the 911 and, crucially, a six-speed manual transmission in lieu of the GT3 RS's PDK.

From the RS, the 911 R inherited its magnesium roof, carbon fiber front and rear lids, and carbon fiber front fenders.

At 1,370 kilograms, it undercut the GT3 RS by 50 kilograms to become the lightest 911 of its generation.

Its stripped-back simplicity, combined with retro styling cues such as its houndstooth-trimmed carbon fiber seats and the Red or Green exterior stripes that link it back to the 1967 911 R, made it one of the most sought-after 911 variants of the past decade.
